NARS Cosmetics made its debut at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week with flushed, luminous skin at Bouchra Jarrar S/S 2012 show.

“The look is elegant, luminous and detailed, with a focus on the bottom eyelid,” said lead artist Christophe Danchaud, for NARS Cosmetics. “The skin is transparent, with the cheek lending a touch of color. Woody, pink lips, and a dark, smudged liner give it a feeling that it’s a bit worn in, because Bouchra wanted to communicate a feeling of warmth through her collection and the makeup.”

NARS Paramaribo and Lhasa Reviews, Swatches and Photos

Besides the gorgeous Douce France Trio Eyeshadow I reviewed, we also have Paramaribo Duo Eyeshadow and Lhasa Single Eyeshadow from the NARS Spring 2012 Collection.

NARS Paramaribo Duo Eyeshadow and Lhasa Single Eyeshadow
Paramaribo is a metallic, brassy, cool-toned yellow-gold with a metallic cool-toned bronze. Both shades are beautiful and apply with heavy pigmentation. Just like my other NARS duos, it wears really well and over my favorite NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base , the colors can stay intact for 10 hours. I would definitely recommend grabbing this as it is limited edition.

Described as a “lavender gray”, Lhasa is a cool-toned taupish gray with a hint of purple and fine shimmer. The color is perfect for every day and will make a great smoky eye when paired with a darker color. It also goes on smoothly with a satin finish and again, stays on very well without creasing and fading.

Makeup Tutorial: Soft Pink Valentine’s Day Makeup Look

Looking for makeup ideas to impress your date or significant other this coming Valentine’s Day? Try this soft pink makeup look you can whip up in just 10 minutes. Step-by-step tutorial after the jump!

Step 1. After prepping the eye area with a base (I used Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow in Shore), line the upper lashline with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero.

Step 2. Before the eyeliner sets, smudge it with NARS Lhasa Eyeshadow to soften the look.

Step 3. Using a fluffy brush like MAC #217 Blending Brush, sweep the medium pink eyeshadow from NARS Douce France Trio Eyeshadow onto the eyelid. Blend past the crease.

Step 4. Sweep the lightest shade from NARS Douce France Trio Eyeshadow onto the brow bone.

Step 5. Line the lower lashline with Urban Decay Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero.

Step 6. Again, soften the line with NARS Lhasa.

Step 7. Apply a few coats of black mascara on top and bottom lashes. Add a pair of full fake lashes like Piccasso Eyeme Premium Fake Eyelashes in S30.

Step 8. Smile big and apply the medium pink shade from NARS Douce France Trio Eyeshadow onto the apples. Blend towards the temples.

Step 9. Finish the look with a warm pink lipstick like NARS Satin Lipstick in Bilbao.

Done!

NARS Douce France Trio Eyeshadow Review, Swatches and Photos

The latest NARS Spring 2012 Collection brings us Douce France, a new, limited-edition eyeshadow trio in complementary shades of pink.

On the left of the trio is a “shimmery icy pink”, an ivory with a tinge of pink and very fine shimmer. It has a slightly chalky texture and I had a hard time getting it to show up on my NC30 skin. The wearability also seemed to be lacking, with the color disappearing almost completely after a few hours.

In the middle is a “shimmery rose petal pink”. The color shows up as a gorgeous medium rosy pink with fine shimmer and reminds me of a cooler version of Jane Bombshell. The pigmentation is much better but thanks to its super soft texture, it has the tendency to blend out easily. It does, however, stay on a good five to six hours without creasing or fading.

Finally, on the right is a matte dark raspberry red that is true to its description of a “matte deep rose”. At first, I was a little intimidated by how it looked in the pan but once I swatched it, I fell in love. The muted undertones makes it wearable not only as an eyeshadow, but also a blush. In addition, it goes on very smoothly with excellent color payoff and stays on well, even without a primer underneath.

Bottom line, Douce France is a gorgeous trio of wearable pinks that go very well with one another. However, at this price, the formula could be more pigmented and long-wearing.

Celebrity Makeup: Evan Rachel Wood at 2012 Golden Globe Awards

At the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards tonight, makeup artist Toby Fleischman used NARS Cosmetics to create the gorgeous gilded eyes and mauve lip on Evan Rachel Wood. Details after the jump!

“Paramaribo Duo Eyeshadow was the exact gilded gold and bronze we wanted to create a soft metallic eye that would pick up the accent of the feathers. Then we used Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara on the lashes to finish the eye (ok maybe more than one coat!).”

“To keep the rest of the face feminine, the new NARS Gaiety Blush was amazing for a sheer flush of pink on the cheek along with a swipe of good-old standby NARS Angelika Blush to add a bit of shimmer.”

“NARS Sex Machine Velvet Matte Lip Pencil topped off with Como Larger Than Life Lip Gloss gave Evan a soft mauve pink lip to complete the look.”
