Graphic elements have been a popular trend on the runways in the past seasons and at Manish Arora Spring/Summer 2014, makeup artist Kabuki and manicurist Marian Newman working for M·A·C Cosmetics created a “1920’s Josephine Baker meets 1990’s raver” look to go with the bright clothing in the collection.
At Nicole Miller Spring/Summer 2014, the inspiration came from the opulence, glamour and beauty of Versailles – the gardens, mirrors, mazes and chandeliers. As a result, makeup artist James Kaliardos working for M·A·C Cosmetics created a bright violet lip while Katie Jane Hughes, butter LONDON Global Colour Ambassador, gave models a glittery ombre nail.
At Mara Hoffman Spring/Summer 2014, the beauty look was all about luminous, sun-kissed skin and a fun nail look.
Inspired by Isla Mujeres on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, the Christian Siriano S/S 2014 Collection was all about colors and vivid prints. As a result, the beauty look centered around glowy skin, a bright lip with beachy hair and colorblocked nails.
Emmy Rossum ditched her signature dewy look for a bolder, glam punk look at the 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Annual Costume Institute Gala last night. “Emmy’s look was a mixture of beautiful femininity and rock ‘n’ roll edginess with her romantic gown and bold eye makeup,” said her makeup artist Jo Baker.
After the Caviar, Velvet and Colorfoil, British nail brand Ciate brings us the new Chalkboard Nail Set – yes you heard it right!
Inspired by a “back to school” theme, the Chalkboard Manicure set features a black matte polish to act as a chalkboard along with four liquid chalk pens (white, pink, blue and green) for you to put your creativity to test and doodle away. Also included is a Ciaté Mattnificent Top Coat to seal the look for a long-lasting and velvety finish. Talk about cool!
Can’t wait to get your hands on this? Just wait until April 23rd, when it debuts at Selfridges in the UK. Hopefully, it will make it to Sephora in the US shortly after that!
