MAC In The Groove Collection Mineralize Skinfinish Reviews and Swatches

It has only been 3 days since MAC’s latest In The Groove Collection launched and their Mineralize Skinfinishes ($28) are already completely sold out in stores and online. Want to know why? Just read on to find out for yourself!

All four MSFs in this collection are repromotes. They have a smooth texture and go on with great pigmentation. The colors can also work as blush, highlighter and bronzer on a variety of skin tones. Talk about versatile!

• Comfort, which was released in the Warm and Cozy Collection, is the perfect golden bronze color and my favorite MSF to use as a bronzer for my NC30 skin.

• By Candlelight is a light beige with pink undertones, also from the Warm and Cozy Collection. I love this as a highlighter.
• Petticoat, one of the older MSFs, is a gorgeous frosty light pink with gold and amber veining that I love to use as a blush.
• Stereo Rose, is a warm coral with golden bronze and also one of the first MSFs that I own. It gives my NC30 skin a really nice, natural flush.

MAC Sheer Minerals Collection Reviews and Swatches

The Mineralized SPF15 Foundation – Loose ($29) is a repromote and was released in April earlier this year. It comes in 9 shades which run slightly darker than the Mineralize Skinfinish Naturals.

• Light – neutral pale ivory
• Light Medium – neutral light beige
• Medium – beige
• Medium Plus – tan beige
• Medium Dark – rich tan
• Medium Deep – deep golden orange tan
• Dark – caramel
• Deep Dark – deep caramel
• Deeper Dark – milk chocolate

I use Medium Plus for the MSF Natural and Medium for the Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation (Loose) for my NC30 skin. Unlike most other mineral foundations I tried, this does not irritate my dehydrated combination skin. It feels soft, lightweight, non-drying and imparts a my-skin-but-better finish. The coverage is on the sheer side and slightly more matte compared to the Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation. The sock-covered latex sponge applicator that it comes with also works pretty well for buffing the product into the skin but I prefer using a small powder brush. My only gripe is it does tend to oxidize so the color turns darker by the end of the day. Overall, love the texture and finish, hate the wearability.

The new, limited edition Mineralize Sheersheen Loose Powder ($19.50) is like a loose powder version of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish. Although it is very frosty and gives a luminous glow to the skin, I find it a little too sheer. I like the regular MSF a lot more than this.

• Sheerbronze – Soft bronze with gold pearlized pigments (Frost)
* Lucent – Faded mid-tone pink with pink and white pearlized pigments (Frost)
* Silver Aura – Muted pinky beige with silver shimmer (Frost)

There are three Mineralize Skinfinishes ($25) in this collection.

• Soft and Gentle – This “gilded peach bronze” is the only new color in the collection. It looks more like a shimmery beige color and is not really that unique.

• So Ceylon – Described as a “rose bronze with golden bronze veining”, this is a repromote from the High Tea collection and was one of the first Mineralize Skinfinishes. It is a pretty color and would work great as a bronzer for those with pale skin.

• Petticoat – This is a “pale rose with gold and amber veining” and a repromote that was launched in December 2005. The color is gorgeous and highly pigmented and one swipe along your cheekbones will give you a healthy flush. It is definitely my favorite out of the three.

MAC New View Collection Mineralize Skinfinish Duos Reviews and Photos

With MAC’s latest New View Collection, we have 5 new and limited edition Mineralize Skinfinish Duos ($26.50)

Each duo contains two different shades – a natural shade for a matte finish and a coordinating shimmery shade to highlight. Like all of MAC’s Mineralize products, they are baked powders with minerals.

* Light Medium Natural and Shimmer – Pale golden beige / Warm yellow beige
* Medium Natural and Shimmer – Soft creamy beige / Light peachy pink
* Medium Dark Natural and Shimmer – Caramel / Light tan
* Dark Natural and Shimmer – Deep caramel / Mid-tone yellow gold
* Deep Dark Natural and Shimmer – Rich golden bronze / Deep copper bronze

The natural side is basically the regular Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. It does not offer a lot of coverage and can be used to set and fix foundation or for touch-ups. It is very finely milled and goes on super soft without accentuating any dry patches or adding a lot of color, giving my skin a radiant look. If you have oily skin, this product will NOT keep shine at bay – try MAC Blot for that.

As for the shimmery side, I think it is just the regular Mineralize Skinfinish. Not only do some of the colors resemble the existing MSFs, they apply the same too.
