Makeup Tutorial: How To Get Babydoll’s Makeup Look From Sucker Punch

In fantasy movie “Sucker Punch”, lead makeup artist Rosalina Da Silva created some very droolicious makeup looks that involved a lot of “glamour, color, lashes, glitter and crystals”. My favorite out of them all? Babydoll, played by Emily Browning.

Inspired by Brigitte Bardot with a splash of Anime characters, Babydoll’s look is “sweet, innocent but at the same time very fearless” and all about a 60s eyeliner, long-full lashes and nude lips.

Face
To get Babydoll’s smooth, dewy skin, Rosalina airbrushed various brands of foundations – Armani, Kevin Aucoin, Kett and Kryolan – on. For every day, just use a foundation with a dewy finish and spray your face with MAC Fix+.

Eyes
The eyes are definitely my favorite part of this look. Start by applying a shimmery eyeshadow all over the eyelid. Darken the crease with a dark brown color. Using a black liquid or gel eyeliner (MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack was used on set), draw a thick line along the upper lashline and finish with a flick at the outer corner. Apply several coats of black mascara and a pair of thick fake lashes (Emily wore 3 pairs in the movie) on top. Finish by dabbing a highlighting color right by the tear duct to really create that doe-eyed look.

Cheeks
Rosy pink cheeks help add to the innocence of Babydoll’s look. Smile big before sweeping a pink blush on the apples. Dab a highlighting color right on top of the apples to really make them pop.

Lips
Run a lip pencil along your lip line for a defined shape. Apply a lipstick that matches with your blush and top with a clear gloss.

Step By Step How To
Since we are doing a dark eye, start with the eyes before anything else for minimal cleanup.

1. Fill in eyebrows as needed.

2. Apply a cream-based black shadow on the eyelid as a base. This will create more intensity and give the glitter something to grab onto.

3. Pat a black-bluish eyeshadow (MAC Later Pigment) on top of the cream shadow.

4. Dip a wet eyeshadow brush into some blue glitter (MAC Reflects Duo Purple Glitter) and pat directly on top of the black shadow. Blend off the edges carefully without rubbing off the glitter.

5. Using a wet brush, apply a teal color (MAC Partylicious Pigment) on the lower eye. Applying it wet will make the color pop and stay on longer.

6. Line the upper lashline with a black liquid liner.

7. Highlight the brow bone with a shimmery light color (Urban Decay Virgin Eyeshadow).

8. Apply several coats of black mascara on your top lashes before adding fake lashes.

9. Now that we are done with the eyes, clean up any fallouts with a Q-tip dipped in eye makeup remover. To remove glitter stuck on your face, you can also use scotch tape.

10. Apply foundation and concealer as needed.

11. Warm up your cheeks with a peachy shade (MAC Utterly Game Blush). Highlight the bridge of your nose with a light beige color and contour the jawline with a matte brown color (MAC Sculpt and Shape Powder).

12. Finish with a coral lip gloss (Nuxe Rose Legendaire Gloss).

Step by Step How To

1. Even out skin tone by applying MUFE foundation with MAC #190 Foundation Brush.

2. Fill in eyebrows and prep the eye area with Lumene primer.

3. Using MAC #239 Eye Shading Brush, pat Style Predator eyeshadow from MAC Leopard Luxe Eye Shadow x 4 onto the eye area, from the lashline all the way up to the brow bone.

4. Using MAC #219 Pencil Brush, darken the crease and outer corner with Notoriety and Furiously Fabulous eyeshadows from MAC Leopard Luxe Eye Shadow x 4. Blend off the edges with MAC #217 Blending Brush and drag the color outwards to create a cat eye look.

5. Line the upper lashline with Milani liquid liner and wing it at the outer corner to further enhance the cat eye effect.

6. Apply the Milani pencil eyeliner in the lower waterline and soften it with MAC Club Eyeshadow on the lower lashline.

7. Apply fake lashes for a more dramatic effect.

8. Dot a teeny bit of Copacabana on top of your cheekbones. Pat until well-blended.

9. Apply Utterly Game onto the cheekbones and hollows of the cheeks. Blend well.

10. Finish the look with Estee Lauder lip gloss.

Step by Step How To

1. Amanda started by moisturizing my skin with Hydrating Freshening Lotion and Brightening Serum.

2. Since we were going for a smoky look, Amanda did my eye makeup first. She prepped the entire eye area with the Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base before coloring in the eyelid with Palladium. Using a dense brush, she patted the darker color in the Rajasthan Duo on top of the Palladium. Then she applied the lighter color in the Rajasthan Duo on the crease with a fluffy brush to blend off any harsh edges. Next, she further darkened the outer corner of my eye with the the darker color in the Rajasthan Duo and added a pop of the color by pressing Mangrove in the center of my eyelid.

* I am also wearing Milani Eye Tech Liquid Eye Liner in Black along my upper lashline, CoverGirl LiquiLine Blast Eyeliner in Silver Spark on my lower lashline with Makeup For Life Fake Lashes in #Sweet Sixteen on top lashes and Rimmel Glam’Eyes Lash Flirt Volume & Lift Mascara in Kohl Black on lower lashes.

3. After cleaning up any eyeshadow fallouts, Amanda applied the Makeup Primer all over before using her fingers to apply the Sheer Glow Foundation. She also added a touch of Custard Concealer under the eyes.

4. To contour my cheekbones, Amanda swiped the Cap Vert Multiple Bronzer on them with Copacabana Multiple right on top. She carefully blended the colors in a patting motion and added Douceur onto my apples.

5. Amanda finished the look by dusting a sheer layer of loose powder to set everything. She also added Shrinagar Lipstick on my lips with Strawberry Field Lip Gloss on top.
