Runway Beauty: Pink Makeup + Velvet Chanel Logo Stickers at Chanel Resort 2013 Show

Marie Antoinette was the inspiration behind the pink makeup and pastel wigs at the Chanel Cruise 2013 Show in Paris this week. To create the “between girly and rebel” look, Chanel Creative Director of Makeup Peter Philips covered models’ eyes, cheeks and lips with a tangy pink and paired it with a dash of beige liner on the inner rims of the eyes, defined brows and clean skin.

But the most interesting part of the look belonged to the little black velvet Chanel logo “beauty marks” that were placed on top of models’ cheekbones. Definitely keep an eye out for them in the upcoming Collection Versailles de Chanel!

How To: Wear Dark Vampy Lipstick

Vampy lips totally made a comeback on the red carpet at the 2012 MET Ball and Lana Del Rey, Camilla Belle and Kate Bosworth were just a few who rocked the look. To learn how you too can nail dark lipstick, check out the tips below.

* Pick the right shade. If you have fair skin tones, go for brick red or berry; medium skin tones should stick to burgundy and maroon; while dark skin tones can pull off wines and browns.

* Prep your lips. Exfoliate them to remove dead skin and apply the lipstick can go on more evenly.

* Precision is a must. To prevent bleeding, clean up your lip line with a brush dipped in concealer and line your lips with a lip liner in a similar shade before and after applying the lipstick.

* Dark matte colors can have an aging effect and make your lips appear thinner. To make the look more wearable, add a dash of gloss like Camilla. Just make sure you don’t go overboard as too much glosses can cause the color to migrate more easily.

* With so much focus on the lips, it is best to keep the rest of your face simple. Stick with a neutral eye, understated blush and clean brows.

Get Jessica Alba’s Hair at 2012 MET Ball

Retro waves continue to dominate the red carpet at the 2012 Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala last night. One of my favorites is Jessica Alba, who paired an asymmetrical look with vampy lips and neutral eyes. Below is the scoop from Jessica’s hairstylist, Renato Campora, on how you can recreate the look at home!

How To

Step 1. On wet hair, Renato applied Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel throughout and then formed a strong side part.

Step 2. He dried the hair with a round brush to create volume and shine.

Step 3. Next, he used a one inch curling iron to create the body and shape of the look.

Step 4. Renato then brushed through the curls, to build waves starting from the side-part.

Step 5. He applied a small amount of Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Cream to define the waves of the hair and add a lasting shine.

Step 6. To finish the look, Renato sprayed Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray.

Makeup Tutorial: Metallic Golden Bronze Eye Makeup Look

A metallic eye can always be seen on the red carpet and runway for a reason – it can instantly add sizzle to any look and works on all eye shape. Below is a quick one I did using different shades of bronze from one of my favorite neutral palettes, Urban Decay Naked Palette. Read on for a step-by-step tutorial!

Step 1. Using a fluffy brush like MAC #217 Blending Brush, apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Half-Baked on the inner half of the eyelid.

Step 2. Apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Smog on the outer half of the eyelid. Blend so there is a gradation between the two colors.

Step 3. With Sonia Kashuk Pencil Brush, darken the outer corner and crease with Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Darkhorse.

Step 4. Run a dark kohl pencil like MAC Feline along the upper and lower lashlines. Add a small fleck on the outer corner for a cat eye effect.

Step 5. Layer Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Creep over the kohl to set and for a more dramatic effect.

Step 6. Coat upper and lower lashes with Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara in Black.

Step 7. Apply Jealousness U.S.A. Diamond Beauty Lashes in Beauty JS-506.

Done!

Extra Tips

* To really make your metallic eye pop, dampen your brush with water or MAC Water-based Mixing Medium before you apply the shadow.

* Got warm undertones? Stick with bronzes, golds and coppers. On the pink side? Light blue, silver mauve or silver are your best bet.

* If you have single or hooded eyelids, avoid using metallics on the crease and remember to add in lots of black eyeliner and mascara.

* Always pair your metallic eyes with clean skin and neutral lips for a modern look.
