Dark lips has always been a signature look for fall. And this year, the ethereal gothic look was turned up a notch with shades ranging from deep rose, wine stained to dark purples. At Derek Lam, various shades of brown, maroon and burgundy were mixed together to create a saturated stain while Bibhu Mohapatra (top right) paired dark cherry lips with a wet, metallic eye. Taking things to the extreme was Veronique Branquinho (top left), where models donned an ultra sophisticated glossy purple lip, courtesy of red lipstick mixed with purple eyeliner.

Fierce was the word that came to mind when I saw the gorgeous cat eye with nude lip at Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2013 Couture. Using “six shades of brown shadow”, makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds elongated models’ eyes before adding white kohl on the inner rim of the lids and black eyeliner on upper and lower lashlines.
Dewy skin reigned the runway of the Valentino Fall 2013 Couture show at Paris. To get the look, “mix moisturizer into your foundation and apply it like skincare,” says famed makeup artist Zing. Add a dab of highlighter (nothing beats NARS Copabacanab Illuminator) onto the “C” shape along the top of the cheekbones to just under or above the brows and finished with curled lashes and just a tinge of color on the lips.
