With the 80s bigger than ever this fall, the iconic cat eye has been spotted everywhere! First, there was François Nars’ work at the Marc Jacobs A/W 2009 fashion show and my very own interpretation of it.


Then comes Leighton Meester in the “Somebody To Love” music video and Beyonce in her latest “Video Phone” music video with Lady Gaga.

In relation to the Q&A on the different ways to apply eyeshadow, here are some more of my favorites.

Please note that these are just some of the many ways you can apply eyeshadows. As I always say, there are no set rules when it comes to makeup. Just experiment with different methods, colors and textures to find out what works best for you.

* Light color on the inner half of the eyelid + Dark color on the outer half. This is a very common way to open up the eyes. It is also the most beneficial for those with close-set eyes, especially when the darkest color is applied at the very outer corner.

The weekly Q&A section is finally back and this week, Yael wanted to learn more about the different ways to apply eyeshadows.

Question: I want to try a different way of applying eyeshadows but have no idea how! I keep using a light color up to above the crease with something dark on the lid. Any suggestions?

Answer: Of course there are many other ways to apply eyeshadows! The key is to experiment and find out what works for your eye shape. I will start a series of posts on this topic but first, let us look at three of the most common ways.
