MAC Peacocky Collection Mega Metal Shadows Reviews and Swatches

The Peacocky Collection finally hit stores yesterday!

The new Mega Metal Shadows ($19.50) come in 15 beautiful colors that range from coppers, beiges to greens, blues, purples and browns. Compared to the previously released Metal X and Brushed Metal X shadows, these feel more like powder eyeshadows but go on equally buttery with a nice, blendable texture.

Pigmentation seems to vary by color. While they all go on very metallic, the darker ones are more pigmented while the lighter ones require a bit of layering to get a more intense color.

* Sexpectations is a reddish burgundy similar to Cranberry eyeshadow.
* Tweet Me is a light golden orange that shows up identical to Expensive Pink eyeshadow on me.
* Paparazz-she is a bright coppery orange. It reminds me a lot of Goldspice Metal X Eyeshadow and Amberlights eyeshadow.
* Prance is a light beige with a pearly pink sheen.
* Peek-at-you is a light yellow white and the least pigmented out of the bunch. It is similar to Pollen eyeshadow.
* Dalliance is a very light pewter/olive gold. On me, it shows up just like Retrospect eyeshadow with barely any green.
* Ego is a dark forest green that is almost identical to Humid eyeshadow and 6th Sin Metal X Eyeshadow.
* Odalisque is a teal. Shimmermoss and Talent Pool from Starflash collection are close dupes.
* Dandiezette is a cool-toned dark silvery blue similar to Blue Storm Pigment.
* Noir Plum is a bright violet identical to Violet Pigment.
* Mating Call is a frosty lavender. It is similar to Lotusland Eyeshadow from Starflash collection and lighter than Stars ‘N Rockets eyshadow.
* Top Of The Posh is a frosty light pink with just a tinge of gold.
* Spectacle of Yourself is deep bronze warmer than Center Stage. Coco Beach Pigment and Twinks Eyeshadow are both to similar to it.
* Center Stage is a rich chocolate brown just like Mulch Eyeshadow.
* Unflappable is a dark plummy grayish taupe. It is a warmer version of Satin Taupe eyeshadow and similar to Gilded Ash Brushed Metal X Eyeshadow .

The shadows also wear slightly better than the Metal X and Brushed Metal X shadows. They are water-resistant and stay on a good 10 hours without creasing or fading even with no primer underneath.

While all the colors are gorgeous, they are VERY similar to existing and previously released colors so I had a really tough time picking out what I want. I ended up with Unflappable, Noir Plum and Dandizette. Might go back for Dalliance and possibly Mating Call.

Barry M, Sleek Cosmetics, Rimmel London…. The Brits have always had some of the coolest makeup around and my latest must-have from over the pond are Blingtone Single Eye Shadows from myface cosmetics, a line created by top makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury.

With a formula that contains crushed pearl and pigment, the Blingtones promise to deliver high-impact color with zero flaking or glitter fallout. They come in ten icy jewel-tone and metallic shades, including:

* Black Ice – charcoal
* Silver Screen – silver
* Diamonds & Pearls – icy white
* Gilt-y – gold
* Morococo – chocolate brown
* Sp”ice”y - olive brown
* Crystalline Green – emerald green
* Caribbean Queen – aqua blue
* Bellbottom Blues – navy blue
* Purple Haze – violet

Unlike MAC Metal X eyeshadows, the Blingtones have a slightly drier texture that goes on smoothly, super lightweight yet nothing like a cream eyeshadow. The colors do show up very pigmented but you can easily blend it out for a sheerer look. They are also super long-wearing and truly water-proof. I wore them to a Tiesto concert without a primer underneath and they did not crease or migrate a bit! That to me, is simply AMAZINGGGGGGGGG!

Buxom Stay-There Eyeshadow Review and Swatches

Thanks to the Sephora Friends and Family event, I ended up bringing home some Buxom Stay-There Eyeshadows, which I had been eyeing for a while.

The shadows come in the cutest little pot with the cutest names like ‘Chihuahua”, “Saint Bernard”, “Poodle” and more. There are a total of 10 fun, wearable shades, including bright teal, royal blue, lime, violet and your everyday taupe, copper, champagne and charcoals. I have Black Lab, a gorgeous black with micro-glitter and Mutt, a metallic taupe.

Unlike your regular cream and powder eyeshadows, these have a fluffy, lightweight mousse-like texture that applies smoothly and blends easily. They swatch very well on finger tips but apply sheerer on the eyelid, leaving a metallic finish with fine shimmer. The color is very buildable though and you can easily layer for more intensity.

As for its claim to be water-proof? Let’s just say that’s a bit of a stretch. The shadows are, however, water-resistant and stay on a good day without fading or creasing on my dry skin. Those with oilier skin, however, will want to use a primer underneath or top with a powder eyeshadow to maximize staying power.

Buxom also makes a Stay There Eye Shadow Brush to be used for these babies but your good old pinkie or any synthetic brush like MAC #242 Shader Brush will do the trick.

Bottomline, Buxom Stay-There Eyeshadows are cute and easy-to use. I dub them the no-brainer eyeshadow!

Hard Candy Split Personality Eye Color Duo Review and Swatches

I have always been a fan of Hard Candy’s new line at Wal-mart so when I was sent a sample of their award-winning Split Personality Eye Color Duo ($7) for review, I was thrilled!

The Split Personality Eye Color Duo comes in a cute silver pen packaging that is perfect to pop in any purse or makeup bag. On each end is a cream eyeshadow that will last you approximately 50 applications, along with a built-in sponge applicator that you use to apply directly onto the eyes. Sounds pretty easy huh?

There are a total of 8 gorgeous, wearable duos in complementary shades. I have Dazed, which is a beautiful combo of lavender and silver.

The cream eyeshadow has a smooth, silky texture that goes on more like a powder and leaves behind a shiny finish. It also stays on for hours without creasing.

Although the sponge applicators are easy to use and work nicely on my eye area without tugging the skin, getting the eyeshadow (which by the way, is stuck at the base of the cap) onto the applicator can be really tricky and time-consuming.

Another thing I did not like is the pigmentation. The eyeshadow goes on really sheer and even though the color is buildable, you will get a wash at most.

So as much as I like the on-the-go concept of this product and the pretty colors they offer, I do not recommend it.

Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow Swatches

Since you ladies loved the ETOD I did with the Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Chrome Patina, I went back and got swatches of the other colors.
