At Hache Spring/Summer 2014, lead makeup artist Val Garland working for M·A·C Cosmetics, went for a “teddy boy tough chic” look with a graphic eye and matte, apricot lips.
The inspiration behind Dolce & Gabbana Spring/summer 2014 was an imaginary journey to rediscover ancient Sicily. To translate that into beauty, makeup artist Pat McGrath used a combination of warm golden tones alongside rich red accents on the models while hairstylist Guido created an ultra-feminine, soft braided updo pinned with gold coins, flowers and other hair accessories.
At Naeem Khan Spring/Summer 2014, the look was inspired by Frida Kahlo and centered around luminous skin with a diffused raspberry stained lip and “tough-girl” braids.
At Sophie Theallet Spring/Summer 2014, models were given a look that was “very very very fresh… a little bit of grungy” with dewy skin and a stained orange lip.

Dark lips has always been a signature look for fall. And this year, the ethereal gothic look was turned up a notch with shades ranging from deep rose, wine stained to dark purples. At Derek Lam, various shades of brown, maroon and burgundy were mixed together to create a saturated stain while Bibhu Mohapatra (top right) paired dark cherry lips with a wet, metallic eye. Taking things to the extreme was Veronique Branquinho (top left), where models donned an ultra sophisticated glossy purple lip, courtesy of red lipstick mixed with purple eyeliner.
