Yay or Nay: Heidi Montag’s 2nd Plastic Surgery

January 17, 2010

Earlier this week, Heidi Montag from The Hills stirred up quite a buzz with her new face and body on the cover of People magazine. The plastic surgery addict confessed she underwent ten procedures – buttocks augmentation, boob job touch-up, nose job touch-up, chin reduction, mini brow lift, Botox, fat injections in her cheeks and lips, pinning back of her ears, liposuction in her neck, waist and thighs – in one day in order to become “the best me”.

Heidi prior to her second surgery and now

Personally, I think Heidi looked a lot better before. There’s something off about her new nose and that brow lift kind of creeps me out. But the more important issue here is the message behind all this. Openly advocating plastic surgery is NOT cool! Everyone is beautiful in their own ways and we should all learn to embrace what we are born with. Not to mention, we all know beauty is not skin deep. Below is a quote from Audrey Hepburn that I really like:

For attractive lips,
Speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes,
Seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure,
Share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair,
Let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise,
Walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things,
Have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed,
And redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,
You will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands;
One for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

So what is your take on Heidi’s new look or just plastic surgery in general? Spill!

She definitely looked better before the surgery! She was so naturally pretty on the first few seasons of The Hills, why does she need to change all of that for? Now she looks so…plastic. And only at 23! Those boobs are too big for her small frame and her brows are freaking me out!

  • Reply Sofia January 17, 2010 at 3:58 pm

damn I think her second surgery makes her look creepy!!

  • Reply Laura January 17, 2010 at 4:01 pm

yeah she looked way better before, now she looks like a transvestite, not that there is anything wrong with that. But she just looks too overdone now! It’s soooo sad because she is only 23. I can only imagine how she will look by the time she is 30! You forgot to mention that she plans on getting more surgery done and I believe she said she is addicted to it too!

She looks like a creepy fembot =/ Ugh…now she’s all silicone and collagen.

The quote from Audrey Hepburn was actually originally from a poem by Sam Levenson.

I am not opposed to plastic surgery if it is going to make somebody happy, but for Heidi at 23 years to have so much work done, there has to be an underlying problem with confidence, body and self image issues. I don’t think plastic surgery would solve whatever sadness she has within herself. I can understand at her age maybe a boob job or nose job but a total body over haul I don’t understand. I thought she was pretty before her surgery and even her first surgery she still at least look like herself but now she looks like a different person. I think she looks even older with the brow lift and it creeps me out.

  • Reply Veronika January 17, 2010 at 4:50 pm

Honestly I think that she looked better before!

  • Reply F January 17, 2010 at 5:07 pm

All that money wasted on plastic surgery ought to have gone to better places. For example, the Haiti earthquake effort, or some other charity. Way to show everyone you know how self-interested you are.

  • Reply Maddie January 17, 2010 at 5:17 pm

Ew she looks like Danielle from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. She was waaaay prettier before

  • Reply May January 17, 2010 at 5:19 pm

I think she looks way better before the plastic surgery.

  • Reply Kaitlynn January 17, 2010 at 5:32 pm

I think that everyone should look at this situation and LEARN. Learn to never make the mistakes she has made. Everyone is so beautiful naturally. I personally think that is the problem with our American society, we keep wanting to enhance ourselves until we look like “stepford wives” which is unreal and fake. Love and respect your bodies. Dont let your insecurities eat you alive.

Agree with Kaitlynn word for word!

  • Reply liana January 17, 2010 at 6:49 pm

she looks so unatural! she was way prettier before, and even before she had surgery she was still pretty. why do people think that you have to have surgery in order to be beautiful?

  • Reply Sylvia January 17, 2010 at 8:16 pm

she kind of looks like janice dickinson now O.O

  • Reply Laila January 17, 2010 at 9:06 pm

It’s horrid! She needs phsycological help. She is way too young to put herself through all this plastic surgery. There is definitely an underlying issue with her and it’s not just vanity.

The next cat lady? Can’t wait to see what she’ll look like in 5-10 years.

  • Reply Anna January 18, 2010 at 3:39 am

She looks like a completly different person now, the brow lift and chin reduction (which made her jaw look wider) completely changed her.
Its sad really, I hope she stops before its too late. I remember seeing her on a episode of survivor or something? So naturally pretty Sigh…

She was beautiful before and now she is getting scary, close to a Paris Hilton/Barbie doll =S

  • Reply Anna II January 18, 2010 at 10:04 am

I agree, it´s the message behind it all that makes it all so so sad and ugly. Since when is beauty achieved through plastic surgeries? Because face it, the ideal beauty icon today is an ultra-anorectic girl with huge breasts and bulging lips. Those persons who does this must be looking for something in their life. They think that this operation will replace sadness and emptiness with happines. That is just never the the case! I liked Heidi as she was before she ever did any surgery.

  • Reply Brenda January 18, 2010 at 1:12 pm

i mean, she looks good, but it seems like someone on her 40’s got a plastic surgery, before she looked natural & her age!

  • Reply Loan January 18, 2010 at 7:02 pm

Wow, she looks so old and fake right now. The first round of surgery was a really good and acceptable improvement.

  • Reply Karen January 18, 2010 at 8:34 pm

She’s starting to look like Darryl Hannah in that cover, and that’s not meant as a compliment.

  • Reply Jasmine January 18, 2010 at 8:36 pm

She looks awesome. Could never understand what the phrase “looks plastic” means. If beauty then is from the inside and who you are, why the anti-debate, as it is contradictory – who then cares if a woman does surgery or not.. It is a yay for her and all women doing it, as this is about confidence and feeling good about yourself!!! Who can argue against that – no one

  • Reply CAT January 18, 2010 at 8:39 pm

She looks old and detached – void of any personality or feelings

  • Reply Lana January 18, 2010 at 9:02 pm

Her face is starting to resemble Nadya Suleman’s, the Octomom! So gross! I didn’t think she was very pretty after her first surgery, either, but this second bout of nip/tuck is horrifying. She doesn’t even look human anymore.

  • Reply grace January 19, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Did her lips get bigger too? dont chew me out but i think she looks prettier now. Or it could be that the after picture is a magazine cover and the before isnt. But i wish people would love their selves. and realize that they are beautiful in their own way without surgery

  • Reply Peony January 20, 2010 at 3:42 pm

I never watched The Hill, no cable so I don’t know what this show is about. I personal believe that we are born beautiful naturally what God have given us. God is the creator of all in his imagines. But for Heidi I think she over did everything and read in the article that she feels like she upgraded herself better 3.0 version or something related to a computer. I just think plastic surgery is more a necessity for someone who can afford it, but if it was someone who is really in needs for a plastic surgery in example if they were burn or whatever causes that had happen to them, then it should be fix. I just think she over did it by getting a triple D size boobs.

  • Reply Paula January 20, 2010 at 4:30 pm

I think she looks as cheap as she wanted to. Vanity is a b*tch!

  • Reply Rachel January 21, 2010 at 8:28 am

F – my thoughts exactly. What exactly is this chick on, she looked a whole lot better before she did this to herself. I am not necessarily opposed to plastic surgery, but seriously this is just a tad extreme. It makes me feel sick that she is prancing about altering her body like that for thousands of dollars when there are people in Haiti suffering so much right now. She needs to get the hell out of Hollywood and wake up and see how much other people are suffering – it might put into perspective the importance of a couple of dimples on her butt.
    What an idiot.

  • Reply mw January 21, 2010 at 8:55 pm

seriously she looked way better before …not impressed

  • Reply Sophia January 24, 2010 at 4:39 pm

She was gorgeous before the surgery. Now her face looks like it doesn’t move and she sort of looks like a robot! I wish that her loved ones stepped in before all of this happened. Plus now her saying that she wants to get her breasts to a size H for ‘Heidi’… I don’t even know how her body is going to take all of this.

  • Reply liz January 26, 2010 at 2:16 pm

Now she looks like a plastic doll that doesn’t have any expression. Maybe even a wax figure from the museum! How sad that she thought this was the way to success.

  • Reply Theresa January 26, 2010 at 2:42 pm

What is wrong with her doctor as well? They are suppossed to do evauluations before all these surgeries to make sure her mind is healthy. She is going down the same path as Michael Jackson! And we all know how that played out. Whats wrong with her husband as well? Is he so interested in having a barbie doll wife that he isnt looking out for his wife’s mental health as well? Come on people who are supposed to be her friends and family, be real with this young woman, and dont sit around and let her destroy herself.

SHE LOOKS MUCH OLDER. LIKE MANY WOMAN OUT THERE, WHO HAVE ALSO DONE THIS. ONE SHOULD LOOK LIKE YOURSELF BUT EVEN BETTER!

I UNDERSTAND WHEN YOU WANT TO FIX A FLAW THAT REALLY BOTHERS YOU. BUT, THERE IS A LIMITE TO EVERYTHING.

  • Reply Julia January 26, 2010 at 3:12 pm

I think it’s sad that she lives in a place where drastic plastic surgery like that is so common place that it has skewed the beauty norm for them. So many people have had so many procedures done that that is what has become “normal” to them. They have redifined the beauty ideal. This goes so far beyond having “a little work done” like our mothers’ generation did. I think she doesn’t even look like a human being anymore. And to hear her say that she can’t even move her face or chew properly, how can you justify doing that to yourself. And what does it say about the ethics of the doctor that agreed to do it?

  • Reply Cindy January 26, 2010 at 3:37 pm

She basically aged herself. She now looks like a women in her late 30s or early 40s. She no longer has the youthful look of a young woman. She skipped right over her late 20s and early 30s. She looks fake, and plastic.

  • Reply SC January 26, 2010 at 3:46 pm

After her first apparent surgery (the apparent rhinoplasty and breast augmentation) Heidi looked very fresh. I couldn’t stand her on the Hills but she and the other ladies on the show looked so chic all the time (and their drama made for some classic scenes) so I watched. Now she looks like the octomom-not just fake but waxy and gross. Her face looks completely deformed!!!. The plastic surgeon should be ashamed of himself. He should know better than to advise someone that that much plastic surgery is okay all at once; that they need that much surgery when it is evident that they DO NOT let alone perform such transforming surgery on a 23 year old. I need not mention that her face is grotesque looking…but did you get a good look at his face? He looks like he’s been self injecting…GROSS!!!!!

  • Reply Ginger January 26, 2010 at 4:10 pm

Why would you ask for our opinion and then expressly tell us that “advocating plastic surgery is NOT COOL!”? That doesn’t make any sense to me. As a photographer (and PHOTOSHOP!) user, I don’t see anything different that I couldn’t do myself. I think everyone needs to calm down and shop being rude. What people do to their bodies/with their money is their own prerogative.

  • Reply kaii January 26, 2010 at 4:44 pm

yes i think she was very beautiful before her plastic surgery, and i think the plastic surgery just ruined it for her because now she looks really fake. i think its ridiculous that people are paying the big bucks to get plastic surgery that in the end just makes them look terrible!! i think its one thing to get it done if you are like one of those people on extreme makeover, i mean i think they deserve it but if your already are very beautiful you really shouldnt do it.

  • Reply me January 26, 2010 at 5:23 pm

she could buy me a boob job!!other than that i think i am pretty.

  • Reply Kay January 26, 2010 at 5:27 pm

I feel so sad for her. She looks at least 10 years older than she really is–not that there is anything wrong with the 30s. I could tell she had self esteem issues in the first season of The Hills, but I haven’t watched since then. Since she keeps having procedures, she must still have them. So so sad. *sigh*

  • Reply Kleesa January 26, 2010 at 7:02 pm

Her eyebrows became wack! Why’d she even get a f*cking brow lift? She’s not f*cking 79?

  • Reply Ami January 26, 2010 at 8:12 pm

Her chin reduction made her look horrible! She looks better before!

  • Reply Susan January 27, 2010 at 1:03 am

I liked the before picture better, but the first photo is a very natural shot and the second is a much more expressionless pose which was probably digitally enhanced as well. Without being able to see other photos of her, it’s a bit apples-to-oranges.

What does concern me is the listing of all the procedures she’s had. That’s an awful lot of work for a 23 year old. If I looked like her “before” photo, I wouldn’t be able to step away from the mirror, much less be thinking about surgery to change it all. I agree with those who say there’s probably something psychological going on here.

One other thing: her face and body will change as she ages, so those surgeries may start to look weird after awhile. I’ve read that breast implants can be especially problematic when the natural tissue starts to sag. Then again, she shows no sign of stopping, so probably no worries there.

  • Reply Meg January 27, 2010 at 7:07 am

I honestly think after her surgeries she looks OLDER. Why on Earth would anyone want to alter their face? It’s yet another bad example women are teaching younger girls. There needs to be more women who embrace their beauty, instead of those who think they can erase their “mistakes”.

  • Reply Yve January 27, 2010 at 5:32 pm

It is a shame, how many people are so much into this fake “beauty” stuff, that they don’t see anymore, what real beauty is! This face is like a mask, so surreal, it gives me the shudders! Who would be albe to love it? She was such a beauty on that first picture! Natural, fresh, hungry for life! Now she looks like a grandma, who cliped the skin back to look younger and then got punched up!
What is defined now as beauty is a skeleton with huge boobs and unreal lips! Ever saw those models, how thin they are? This is what is being promoted as “beauty ideal” and – voila! here comes the massive amount of eating disorders! Anorexia, operations, and whatever else! Plastic surgery was invented for those who are really needing it i.e. for disease, burns, accidents, those who need real help! Now it became a sport for those without selfesteem.
Imagine: a matchstick with two oranges attached? O|O sure the matchstick can hold this weight without ripping the skin of the oranges?
Man, invest these thousands of Dollars into something for those in need i.e. those in Haiti who lost their homes and family members, or for prevention of child trafficking which is a grand issue all over the world!
How much insane can you get? Realize, a Barbie woud in real life not even survive for a few minutes Proportionally impossible! This girl needs help! The sad thing is, she is not the only one, and others are even younger than her!
A bad image for those teenies who get to their mirrors and think, “Oh my god, I am so fat! I am not nice at all! By boobs are so small!” and there it goes again. This is a mental problem of her (and many others).
Anyways, stay true to yourself and always be proud of yourself! Every person is beautyful! Doesn’t a bit of personality count anymore? I love this poem! The child hands, I have them daily running through my hair by my little son 🙂

It doesn’t matter how many times she alters herself physically. She’s still the same old useless celebrity.

  • Reply Jayjay January 28, 2010 at 10:10 am

Many women are born with natural beauty, a uniqueness identifying them. When this is altered you then become someone else. Why are women not satisfied with who they are rather than who they can become. There seems to be some disparagement in their mentality that says I need to be recreated. Rest assured, the body will age and all the enhancements will not help. Even to have plastic surgery done at forty will show signs of aging, and your plastic surgeon will be in your checkbook for all your life. Michael jackson’s coffin was NOT opened to the public!!! His nose area was even more of a mess.

  • Reply DiamondsAreForever January 28, 2010 at 11:13 am

Now let me start by saying I’m not particularly for or against plastic surgery to each her own if it makes you feel better about yourself that’s good I guess although I do think that you should consider looking inward and maybe see if there isn’t an emmotional issue you could work on before you go surgically altering yourself for life. In my opinion she looked WAY better before. Not only does she look kinda creepy, detached and angry but I think she looks way older now. Before she looked young and fresh, now she looks all overdone and artificial. Her face looks sunken in and expressionless, her nose is edging towards the Micheal jackson look, her eyes are no longer open and bright, and her boobs are ridiculously oversized for her petite frame. She didn’t need any of these procedures and I don’t think that in the end it will make her any happier, infact I think she’ll end up feeling like she lost alot of who she is in that OR.

  • Reply TX_Lady January 28, 2010 at 5:04 pm

My opinion is that Heidi looked just fine before she had everything nipped/tucked/moved/decreased/or increased. It’s hard to believe this young woman has been so naive to want to change everything about her looks. I think she looked just fine before she had all this plastic surgery, but to each their own. Why would any intelligent woman want to look older than she is? Heidi is probably going to live to regret having all this stuff done because at some point in her life, her looks are going to change for the worse. I don’t like the way Heidi looks now at all but I’m certain she doesn’t care about what any of us think. She still isn’t any smarter, she still has no talent, and unfortunately, some people will do whatever it takes to draw even the attention to themselves.

Her and her boyfriend always do things for the publicity. I kind of think this could be just som publicity stunt. Why share all the details of it and go on a magazine? I think she looks okay except for her jawline.. which is kind of masculine now.
