Yearly Archives: 2009

Inspired by ’80s fashion icon Tina Chow, the Gucci A/W 2009 show was all about “a glittering, glamorous time, when going out was a way of life.” The collection had a really nice palette of colors which included turquoise, azul, violet, red, gray and black. Pieces ranged from kimono tops in asymmetrical stripes, polka-dot dresses, super metallic blouses, tailored pants and sparkly leggings and jumpsuit.

The latest razor from Gillette, Venus Embrace ($12.99), has a cute purple and turquoise handle with five blades surrounded by a Protective Ribbon of Moisture to deliver a whole new shaving experience.

The razor feels a lot lighter than my Venus Vibrance Razor and it makes shaving such a dream! Not only does the handle allow great control but the blades sit perfectly on the surface of my skin so it glides smoothly even in those hard to reach areas. I always get such a close shave with absolutely zero cuts. Plus it comes with a pod that you can stick onto the wall or glass surface for holding the razor and storing the blades. Talk about nice and easy! I definitely recommend this over the Vibrance!

Celeb makeup artist Beau Nelson was right – the ’80s are back! For his A/W 2009 collection, Giorgio Armani created a beautiful collection of 80s-inspired chunky knit cardigans, fitted jackets, tight leggings, pencil skirts, cocktail dresses and more in greys and blacks. And to go with the retro theme, models strutted around in a super tight updo with a bun on one side, strong, purple smoky eyes and fire-engine red lips. Hot!

This week, I got to interview one of my *favorite* celeb makeup artists, Beau Nelson. Not only is the Canadian-born a total hottie, he has painted the faces of many celebrities including Lindsay Lohan, Iman, Mary J. Blige, Blake Lively just to name a few. Beau’s work has appeared in WWD, Flare, Greek Elle, Nuvo, Canadian Elle, Oprah magazine and lots more and his very own line of cosmetics, Beauté Cosmetics, is also a big hit among the a-list!
