Victoria’s Secret Ultimate Makeup Kit Quick Review

November 23, 2009

I have never been a fan of those huge combination makeup sets but during my recent trip to Victoria’s Secret, I saw the Ultimate Makeup Kit and it’s *so* cute I couldn’t resist!

The Ultimate Makeup Kit comes in a glossy black case that measures 14.4cm x 10.8cm x 3.2cm, which is the exact same size as a Yaby palette, only 3 times as thick. The case feels pretty sturdy and is very easy to open and close.

Inside is a huge vanity mirror, three stackable sliding trays – two on each side and one at the bottom – and a middle section. The two trays on the sides contain 30 Silky Eyeshadows, with colors ranging from your everyday neutrals to smoky greens, blues and purples. The eyeshadows are all semi-pigmented and on the shimmery side.

The middle section contains 5 Lip Glosses and 5 Perfect Lipsticks, along with a mascara, black eyeliner, bright red lip liner and 5 brushes. The brushes look and feel pretty tacky (which is pretty typical for most palettes), so I would suggest applying the colors with your own set of brushes.

At the very bottom, is another sliding tray that sits 4 gorgeous Blushes, a Luminous Powder, Translucent Powder and Bronzer.

I have only tested a few of the eyeshadows, blushes and powders but they all seemed to be pretty pigmented. Plus you get 50 products at only $29.50? Now that is a really good deal!

The Ultimate Makeup Kit is now available at www2.victoriassecret.com/ and select Victoria’s Secret stores.

i’m debating on whether to get this or the mega-humongous kit from sephora.

^the blockbuster set from sephora sucks. zero pigmentation, definitely not worth it.

This looks awesome and it reminds me of my Tarte Treasure Chest but Tarte is more expensive!

I know Nordstrom has one too. Don’t know if it’s any good though.

I was considering purchasing this kit for a friend for Christmas and came looking for reviews. After reading the post, I’m left thinking: why red lip liner? LOL That does not compute. What would you pair over that? That turns me off on this kit, for whatever reason. Why bright red? Why not a blue eyeliner instead? hehe Of all of the options, they went with red lip liner (and no red lipstick or gloss to match)? Huh. Seems a waste. Sorry to quibble.

I have to laugh at Bookish_Brunette’s post, of all the gorgeous things in this pallet she complains about the lip liner! (I bought TWO for myself because I love it so much!) As for the reason why they have red lip liner and black eyeliner is because they pick the most popular colors to put in this pallet. My favorite thing is the face illuminator. I put my primer/foundation/powder all on, then I dust my face with the illuminator and it gives it a beautiful glow! I wish they sold the illuminator separately! I assure you, this pallet is fantastic, the only problem is it is now sold out of stores AND online.

Hi, I just got this for Christmas. Can you please tell me how to get to the blushes and powder? No one can seem to open up the little sliding drawer. Please help!

    Meg,

I find the bottom tray pretty hard to open too (compared to the other trays) but all you have to do is place your hand at the bottom of the palette and pull it out. Does that make sense?
