I have always wanted to try out the Gyaru look and after checking out Acen 2009, I decided to do a Casual Himegyaru-inspired FOTD.

What I Used

* Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation in #120 Soft Sand buffed in with Cat Cosmetics Kabuki Brush
* Anastasia Highlighting Brow Kit to fill in eyebrows
* MAC Mega Rich Pigment on entire eyelid
* NARS Surabaya II Eyeshadow very lightly on crease
* NARS Himalayas Eyeshadow to highlight brow bone
* MAC Blacktrack Fluidline to line the top and bottom
* Taiwanese False Lashes on top and bottom
* MAC Accentuate Shaping Powder along the bridge of the nose
* MAC Mineralize Blush Duo in Love Rock on cheekbones
* MAC Cremesheen Glass in Partial To Pink on lips

Hair
Since I have not dyed my hair in over 6 months and I normally wear it straight, I just curled the ends a bit with a 2-inch barrel curling iron.

    Hi Phyllis,
I was wondering what brush you used to apply the fluidline? I also use Blacktrack, but I can never get it to go on smoothly. Thanks!!

  17. Gabrielle says:

    Amazingly pretty and fresh-love it!

  18. Klara says:

I love love love gyaru style, and you look absolutely amazing like always :)

  19. Heather says:

Wow, I honestly cannot get over how perfect and smooth your skin is. I can’t even see the slightest sign of wrinkles around your eyes. Le sigh.

  20. Phyllis says:

    Annie,

I use Sephora’s Long Handle Sable Eyeliner Brush to apply the Fluidline. It’s cheap (only $8) and works great! You can read more about it here:

Another trick is to make sure you pull the skin taut. If you don’t have a steady hand, rest your elbow on a hard surface.

  21. Phyllis says:

    Heather,

It’s all about using a good foundation and really buffing it in.

As for the wrinkles, I really have to thank my parents – it runs in the fam =)

  22. Anon says:

how do you look so beautiful?! you look simply amazing…

  23. synty says:

hi phyllis, your foundation application looks so natural and perfect! i just want to ask if you directly use the kabuki brush with the HD liquid foundation or do you use a foundation brush first and then buff it out? and also, do you set it with a powder or not at all?

  24. lilsweetkaz says:

Loves it! it’s such a captivating look.
    thanks for sharing!

  25. Eunice says:

    Hi Phyllis!
You look gorgeous in this look.
I was trying to find the eyeshadow color you used & could not find mega rich on MAC’s website. Could you possibly link me or recommend any drugstore brand eyeshadows with a similar gold-orange-auburn color? Thank you!

  26. Phyllis says:

    synty,

I just take a pump of the foundation, dab onto the face (under the eyes and around the nose) and buff with the kabuki brush.

Since I have drier skin, I don’t always set my makeup with powder but I do make sure I mist my face with MAC Fix+ when I am done.

  27. Phyllis says:

    Eunice,

Mega Rich was a limited edition color from the Overrich collection.

For drugstore dupes, try Maybelline’s Bronze Glitz Trio Eyeshadow and Cover Girl’s Golden Sunrise 1-Kit Eyeshadow.

  28. Tina says:

I really like this look, especially the eye make-up part. I always have trouble applying eyeshadow and the eyeliner “tail.”

  29. Charlene says:

    Your skin really beautiful…
