Red Carpet Fashion and Makeup: Natalie Portman at 81st Annual Academy Awards

Makeup artist Jeanine Lobell created a gorgeous fairy look on actress Natalie Portman for the 81st Annual Academy Awards. “My inspiration for Natalie on Oscar night was her dress,” says Lobell. “The colour was a fantastic orchid, and being Rodarte, I wanted to do cool punk rock sexy fairy make up.” Read on for the full breakdown.

To create the smoky eyes on Natalie, Lobell used Chanel Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Orient Express. Lobell used the pale pink as a base and the dark purple to smoke out the eyelid and smudged in the lower lash line. She rimmed the inside of the eyes with Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Noir and added lots of Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black for thick, sexy lashes. Natalie’s eyebrows were kept strong with Chanel Perfect Brows in Brun.

Chanel Powder Blush in Narcisse, a flattering, bright pink shade, was placed high on Natalie’s cheek bones.

Lobell added Chanel Glossimer in Galactic for a pale lavender lip.

Jeanine completed the look by adding a sexy bronze sheen with Chanel Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed on Natalie’s arms, shoulders and décolleté.
