2006 Runway Makeup Trends: Nude Look

January 11, 2006

Good news girls, the nude look is back! The look has been spotted all over the runway including Chloe, Calvin Klein, D&G etc. While the term “nude” may suggest going barefaced, it certainly does not mean so. Instead, pros are using close-to-complexion colors in second-skin textures along with a lot of layering to fake that flawless, au naturale look. Read on to find out how you can achieve the nude look!

1. Sheer Foundation/Tinted Moisturizer
The key is to let your natural skin shine through. Pick a foundation with minimal coverage or even out skin tone with a tinted moisturizer. Use concealer to hide undereye circles, broken capillaries or any other imperfections. Skip powder entirely or use sparingly if you have to.

2. Minimal eye makeup
Try to keep your eyeshadow as neutral as possible. Pick one with a shimmering pearl finish to avoid a dull, lackluster look. Lashes should be lush. Use a curler and a volumizing mascara (I *love* L’oreal Voluminous Mascara). Line the inner rim above the bottom lashes with a flesh-tone color pencil for a bright, more awake look.

3. Flushed cheeks
Use a blush that picks up the undertones in your skin and go with a creamy formula. Apply the blush to the apples of the cheeks to create a flushed, I-just-finished-exercising look and to relieve some of the blandness.

4. Neutral lips
Lips should be kept nude and slightly glossy. Skip the liner and pick something rosy – it is pretty much fool-proof and compliments all skin tones.
